You are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Some schools and colleges (such as LSA and Engineering) may close admission well before the deadline. In general, students who are applying from overseas should submit their applications well in advance of the term to which they are applying. Deadlines are listed below for the various terms; however, consideration for admission to all units is made on a space-available basis.
Fall Term Deadline – February 1*
Early Response – November 1
Winter Term Deadline – October 1
Spring Half Term Deadline – February 1*

* Deadline for Dental Hygiene is March 1.
Deadline for the School of Education is January 15.
Freshman deadline for Music, Theatre & Dance is January 15.
Deadline for the College of Pharmacy is December 1.
U-M offers an Early Response option which guarantees the admission decision (admit, deny or defer) by the end of December to fall freshman applicants who submit all application materials by November 1.
All documents must be received by the deadlines, including application, required test scores, transcripts, essays, counselor recommendation form, teacher recommendation form and any other supplemental materials. When we receive your online application, we will send you an email message confirming that we have received your application and notifying you of when you will receive our admission decision. ONLY after ALL documents and test scores are received can your application be reviewed.
You can check the status of your application online; it can take 10 business days from the day our office receives documents to appear as “received.”
Please note that new and cross campus transfer applicants apply directly to the following units and do not use the Office of Undergraduate Admissions Application:
School and College Deadlines
Taubman College of Architecture + Urban Planning
Transfers only. Students may apply for fall term only; application deadline is February 1, portfolio deadline is March 10.
School of Art & Design
Students may apply for fall term only. A portfolio is required.
Stephen M. Ross School of Business
Preferred admission for freshmen only. Students may apply for fall term only; students admitted to U-M in Spring, Summer or Winter terms will not be considered; application deadline is Friday, January 5. Please note that decisions for the Ross School of Business Preferred Admission Program will be sent via email to the email address provided in your application. Transfer applicants should apply directly to the Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
Dental Hygiene
Transfers only. Students applying to the BS in Dental Hygiene (sophomore transfers) may apply for fall term only; application deadline is March 1. Students applying to the Degree Completion E-Learning Program (for RDH holders only) may only apply for fall; deadline is March 1. Students applying to the Degree Completion On-Campus Program (for RDH holders only) may apply for fall or winter term; deadlines are March 1 and August 1, respectively.
School of Education
Transfers only. The application deadline for Winter 2010 is October 15, and the deadline for Fall 2010 is January 15.
College of Engineering
Freshmen only. Students may apply for fall term only. Transfer applicants should apply directly to the College of Engineering.
Interarts Performance
Freshmen only. Students may apply for fall term only; application deadline is December 1. A portfolio and audition are required. Refer to your online application or visit the School of Art & Design and the School of Music, Theatre & Dance for more information.
Kinesiology
Students may apply for fall and winter terms only.
College of Literature, Science, and the Arts
Application deadline is February 1.
School of Music, Theatre & Dance
School of Music, Theatre & Dance application deadlines vary by the date of available auditions; refer to page 7 of your online application or visit the School of Music, Theatre & Dance for more information.
School of Nursing
Application deadlines for Fall Term:
February 1 (Second Career)
February 1 (Freshman and Sophomore Transfer)
February 1 (WCC Joint Program)
Please note: The School of Nursing will not be accepting applications for the RN-BSN program for Fall 2010.
College of Pharmacy
Application deadline for Fall 2010 is December 1, 2009.
Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy
This program is open to cross campus transfer students. Students should apply in the winter semester of their sophomore year. Application deadline is February 1.
Cross Campus Transfer
Cross Campus Transfer Applicants are those who wish to transfer from one school or college on the Ann Arbor campus to another. Cross Campus application to LSA should be made at least one month in advance of the desired term of enrollment. Cross Campus transfers to units other than LSA should contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions prior to February 1, to determine appropriate deadline for specific units. The online application, however, will be available to Cross Campus Transfers only through March 1. After that time, Cross Campus applicants for spring, summer, or fall terms will have to obtain a hard copy of the application from our office or print the PDF version from the Undergraduate Admissions web site.
Non-Degree and Guest Student
Non-Degree and Guest Student Applicants may not use the online application. Guest and non-degree applicants should apply at least two weeks in advance of the first day of classes. Deadlines for some programs will vary. Applicants applying from outside the United States are encouraged to apply as early as possible and at least one month or more prior to the first day of classes.
Readmission
Readmission Applicants may not use the online application. Please refer to the School/College to which you are requesting readmission to determine appropriate application procedures.
