Consideration to all University of Michigan Schools/Colleges is made on a space available basis. Freshman applicants are strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible in the fall term of their senior year. Depending upon the size and quality of the applicant pool each year, applicants who apply later may be at a competitive disadvantage.
Freshman Application deadline for the Fall, Spring, and Summer Terms is February 1*. Deadline for Winter Term Freshman Admission is October 1.
*Freshman application deadline for the School of Music, Theatre & Dance is January 15.
Please allow 7-10 days (U.S. Mail) for application materials to reach our office prior to the published deadlines. However, consideration for admission is made on a space available basis and some schools/colleges fill early. Applications will not be reviewed until all materials, including required transcripts, counselor and teacher recommendation, and test scores, have been received by our office. Applicants applying from outside the United States are encouraged to apply as early as possible and at least one month or more prior to published deadlines.
School of Art & Design applicants must apply by February 1 and submit portfolios by February 1.
School of Music, Theatre & Dance applicants are especially urged to apply early; application deadlines are approximately two months in advance of the various audition dates. Refer to Page 6 of the online version of the application or s-3 or s-4 of the hard copy version for relevant application deadline and audition dates, or visit the School of Music, Theatre & Dance website. School of Music, Theatre & Dance applicants must apply by December 1 for merit award consideration and the final application deadline is January 15

Freshman Admissions Timeline for Fall Term
Freshman applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible in the fall of their senior year. Depending on the size and quality of the applicant pool, applicants who apply later may be at a competitive disadvantage in our admissions process. We will communicate admissions decisions on a periodic basis beginning in late fall through early spring. We will make final decisions on all complete files by the first week of April. The decision may be to admit, deny, or to defer a final decision. Deferred applicants are qualified for admission but it is to soon in the season to know whether or not there will be space available to admit them. All deferred students are notified by mid-April as to whether or not they will be admitted or offered a place on the extended waitlist. We strongly encourage postponed applicants to have other educational options available to them.
Admitted students are encouraged to pay their $200 enrollment deposits as soon as possible, but are not required to do so until May 1.
