From friendly and knowledgeable financial aid counselors to a generous combination of aid awarded through grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study programs, you will find us eager and willing to do everything we can to make it possible for you to take advantage of The Michigan Difference.

Your application for admission also serves as your application for most University merit scholarships. There are no additional forms for you to fill out. We recommend applying by November 1 for competitive scholarship consideration. Scholarship awards are generally made between January and April 15, and you will be notified by letter from the Office of Financial Aid or the U-M school or college to which you have applied if you have received a scholarship.

For need-based financial aid, we use information provided on both the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE to determine your expected family contribution (the amount you and your parents are expected to pay toward your education) and your aid program eligibility. You must apply for financial aid (i.e., complete the FAFSA and the PROFILE) by April 30 to be considered for any financial need-based scholarships.

Please note that international students on temporary visas are not eligible for financial aid.
