Campus Day 2008

frequently asked questions

Is there a cost to attend Campus Day?

Registration fees for Campus Day are:
       Student $15.00
       Student and 1 Parent/Guardian $30.00
       Student and 2 Parents/Guardians $35.00
Participants who wish to pay at the door will be charged an additional processing fee of $2.00 per person; however, advance registration is required.

What is the difference between Campus Day and Orientation?

The Campus Day visitation program provides an opportunity for students to tour campus, gather information, and have their questions answered by students, faculty and staff before they make their final college choice. Students who decide to attend the University of Michigan by paying the enrollment deposit, will receive an invitation to attend orientation. All students must participate in orientation before enrolling in classes. A separate parent orientation is also offered and information for both student and parent orientation is mailed from the Office of New Student Programs beginning in mid-April.

Do my parents have to attend Campus Day with me?

We encourage parents to visit with their students; however, it is not mandatory and some students choose to participate on their own.

Can I bring my siblings or my friends?

Campus Day is a special program for admitted students and their parents/guardians only. Due to limited space we are not able to accommodate additional guests.

Can I stay overnight in a residence hall as part of my Campus Day visit?

We do not have an overnight program. Students will be able to visit a residence hall and have lunch there as part of their campus tour.

When should I make my hotel and plane reservations?

Students should make travel arrangements after receiving email confirmation of their visit date. Space is limited and we may not be able to accommodate your first choice.

When will I find out about housing?

Students who pay their University of Michigan enrollment deposit by May 1, 2008 are eligible to apply for a residence hall space beginning in April. After the beginning of April, a student may apply two weeks after his/her University of Michigan enrollment deposit is recorded. Applications submitted by the May deadline (TBD) are entered into a random drawing for equitable assignment consideration. Applications submitted after the May deadline (TBD) are considered in the order they are submitted. Students can expect information regarding their housing assignment by the first week in August. Roommate information, room number, approximate room dimensions and Move-In materials are available on-line the first week of August.

Is Campus Day still scheduled if there is inclement weather?
